Jonelle Powell, LGPC

Ms. Powell is a dedicated and compassionate mental health professional originally from Long Island, New York, and has proudly called Maryland home for the past 13 years. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Delaware State University and her Master’s degree in Clinical Counseling from Bellevue University.


With over seven years of experience in addiction counseling, Ms. Powell has worked extensively with individuals experiencing co-occurring disorders, providing comprehensive, client-centered care. Her career began as a Behavior Specialist, where she supported both children and adults with developmental disabilities and behavioral challenges, establishing a strong foundation in behavioral intervention and therapeutic support.


Most recently, Ms. Powell served as a contracted Mental Health Counselor with the Department of Juvenile Services (DJS), where she provided clinical and supportive services to youth. In this role, she demonstrated a deep commitment to fostering resilience, promoting accountability, and supporting positive behavioral change in adolescents navigating complex life circumstances.


Ms. Powell believes that every individual possesses the strength and capacity to overcome adversity. Her therapeutic approach is collaborative and grounded in creating a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel empowered to explore their experiences and move toward meaningful change. She is committed to meeting clients where they are and walking alongside them throughout their healing journey.


Her clinical approach is primarily rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), while also incorporating techniques from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Reality Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. Known for her creativity and engaging style, Ms. Powell integrates innovative, interactive, and client-centered strategies to make therapy both effective and meaningful.
